Here's Junior with the Jack o'Lantern we carved last night. I took way too many pictures. But don't I always?

I pulled out the guts and toasted the seeds. I have to give the rest of the credit to Brian. He's pretty good at carving. I think next year he's going to try his hand at this:

Jack o'Bama. Then we'll sell it on ebay for millions of dollars. Or just have some fun throwing it off our balcony:)

Weeks 8-16 Pass-In-Review

We took Johnny to the doctor today to get his 4 month check up and they told us that he isn't four months old until October 28th. It's really confusing because 4 weeks is a month and he just turned 16 weeks on Sunday...but he still has 10 days until he is 4 months old. Don't think too hard about it. The good news is that the doc agreed that he was "big" enough for his 4 month check-up (and shots). In fact, Johnny weighs 20 lbs 15 oz and is 29 inches long which in the doctor's words is "about as big as a large 7 month old." The truth is that he fits his 12 month footy pajamas pretty good so we are now looking for 18-month pj's. In honor of the 8-week tradition, we decided to take another walk down memory lane. Here is weeks 8-16...some of Johnny's new suits, new looks, and new tricks.

When dad is in charge

I was only gone for 30 minutes. My view as I walked in the front door:

My baby, standing up backwards in the car seat, watching TV. No adult in sight. Stuff all over the floor. It's a good thing I wasn't gone for 45.

Johnny probably wishes I would leave a little more often. He's having a great time.

We had our friend Rachel come over and take some pictures of us a long time ago. Johnny was just three weeks, I think. Brian thought I told him not to post the pictures at all. But what I really meant was don't post the pictures in which I look unattractive:) So anyway, here they are just a few months late.

I had so much fun going back through these and remembering when Johnny was so brand new and so skinny! Oh man, was he cute. I hope you enjoy!

11 months... err, weeks

we were in the mother's lounge at church doing our usual thing when in walked a lady from another ward that i'd never met before with a teeny, tiny screaming baby. our small talk conversation went something like this:

me: "ohhhhh, a brand new baby!"

lady: "yep, she's 8 weeks."

me thinking to myself: "opps, i thought she was younger than that."

lady: "how old is yours?"

me: "11"

lady: "11 months. what a great age."

me thinking to myself: "no. weeks. 11 weeks. he just barely learned how to hold up his own head! oh well, i'll just go with it. i'm kind of tired of explaining why my child is a giant."

me: "yep. he's really fun."

p.s. the adorable lamby jacket might reappear in about a month as a Halloween costume. it's just so cute, i couldn't wait (thanks connie).
